DERMAPEN

The treatment with Dermapen is a very popular, effective, and safe procedure where micro-injuries are created in the skin with the aim of inducing collagen production. The name Dermapen refers to a specific company, although there are others in the field, the treatment is usually referred to by this name because it was the first one manufactured and used in our country.

So, it's a more controlled and modern form of microneedling. Depending on the depth the microneedles reach into the skin, we have different degrees of collagen stimulation.

Therefore, it is a suitable treatment for those who prefer a simple skin rejuvenation and glow, as well as for those who wish to make a more substantial improvement in the quality and texture of their skin, with smoothing of fine lines.

It is suitable for anti-aging treatments such as wrinkle treatment, pore treatment, pigmentation, as well as for restorative treatments such as scar treatment, stretch marks, or for hair treatments.

It is a minimally invasive treatment, safe for all skin types. The controlled micro-injuries caused by the needles stimulate the skin's natural repair mechanisms, which in turn induce collagen and elastin production. This results in smoother, firmer, and more homogeneous skin texture.

At the same time, through the small holes created, we can deliver various substances, enhancing the result we want to achieve with more "building blocks."

As a device, as its name suggests, it really resembles a large pen. At the end, there is a slot for a detachable section. This section is sterilized and single-use, and at its end are the microneedles. A very important element for the safety of the patient in this device is that with a high-tech mechanism it possesses, it does not allow the transfer of blood or other tissues from this detachable section to the rest of the device. Thus, any possibility of contamination is completely prevented.

When activated, the needles move vertically into the skin, creating small "tunnels" from the surface of the skin to the depth we have defined.

Before the treatment, as always, there is an evaluation of the patient and an assessment of the suitability of the treatment based on the needs of their skin.

Half an hour before the start of the treatment, we apply an anesthetic cream to the area. With the use of the cream, the treatment becomes essentially completely painless.

Then, the area is cleansed, and the treatment begins. With specific movements, we can cover the entire area we want to improve, but also emphasize more problematic areas. We achieve this by changing the depth of the needles, if necessary, from area to area, and the speed at which they move into the skin. Also, if we increase or decrease the number of times we cover an area, we may have a milder or more intense result.

After the treatment, the appearance of the skin varies depending on the depth of the needles and the parameters mentioned above. Thus, we may have a simple erythema (redness) or a picture of intense trauma with small localized bleeding and therefore a more intense picture of redness and irritation.

However, even in these cases, the downtime is not significant in time. Usually, the appearance resembles that of a sunburn, which subsides in the majority within 3-4 days.

After the end of the treatment, the use of regenerative cream is recommended for a few days by the patient, and definitely sunscreen, regardless of the time of year. In addition, for a small period of time, irritating creams and exfoliating or drying cleansers are avoided.

The results of the treatment are immediately visible, with the completion of the recovery. Specifically, there is an improvement in the brightness of the skin, its texture, and fine lines. These are long-lasting results that are influenced by the aging rate of each individual.

Depending on our therapeutic goal and the age of the patient, more sessions may be needed. The minimum time between treatments is usually one month.

What one should remember about Dermapen:

Many times we choose to combine it with other treatments, such as laser rejuvenation, PRP, peeling, microdermabrasion, and others. This can be done either simultaneously on the same day, maximizing the individual actions of the treatments, or in successive sessions, allowing the skin to partially heal from application to application.

The decision of whether one or more sessions are needed or a combination of Dermapen with other treatments is made jointly by the dermatologist and the patient, based on the patient's needs and the program's capabilities in their daily life.

Dermapen is an excellent and complete treatment with various actions that can offer solutions to many problems and all skin types.
