In our clinic, we have extensive experience in treating varicose veins using combinations of sclerotherapy injections and specialized vascular laser applications.
This enables us to address a variety of vascular lesions, from varicose veins to hemangiomas.
What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are larger veins - wider than they should be. In a sense, they appear to be "bulging." Because they are dilated and have more blood inside them, they are more visible than surrounding vessels in the skin. Their color is red or purple, as they are venous.
What causes varicose veins?
The reasons for the dilation of these vessels are both genetic and environmental. The number of varicose veins our parents have predicts the number we will have! However, concerning varicose veins in the legs, posture and hydrostatic pressure play a crucial role. Additionally, as you can understand, the passage of time does not help, as collagen and structural components of vessel walls degenerate over time. Finally, exposure to the sun is also crucial, both in the legs and in the face and neck/decolletage area. Sun heat leads to the dilation of vessels, but even more importantly, premature aging of the skin, causing collagen breakdown and degeneration.
What are hemangiomas?
Hemangiomas are lesions consisting of a greater number of vessels than expected. We did not use the term "normal" because they are, in a sense, a variation of the normal, like moles (spots). Some hemangiomas appear at birth or shortly after and often regress on their own, while others, such as cherry angiomas (small red spots) typically appear later in life.
Treatment of Varicose Veins with Laser
Especially for varicose veins in the legs, we always recommend checking the deep circulation in the lower extremities with triplex and then usually starting with the use of sclerotherapy injections. Sessions required are better done in autumn-winter.
Treatment of Hemangiomas with Laser
Hemangiomas and dilated vessels on the face and body require appropriate knowledge of treatment as well as appropriate devices. We have two types of lasers specialized in vascular lesions, both for medical and purely aesthetic purposes, with excellent results.
This way, we treat hemangiomas in children (when needed), cherry angiomas (small red spots), and facial varicose veins. These lasers are also crucial in the treatment of rosacea (rosacea acne).
